AED Backpack
An updated, complete AED backpack should be something that every first responder has in case they are called to a collapse. An AED, or an automatic external defibrillator, will not start a heart that has already stopped, but that does not mean it won’t save lives. In fact, the American Heart Association has claimed that the chances of survival increase fifty percent when an automatic external defibrillator is used as well as CPR. So, if an automatic external defibrillator will not start a heart that has stopped, you may be wondering what good they are?
An automatic external defibrillator is designed to send a jolt of electricity directly to the heart. It is a machine, not something that is placed inside the body. Therefore, it’s portable and safe, as well as effective without any sort of invasive surgery. A jolt of electricity is necessary when a heart begins to have irregular rhythms. Irregular rhythms can be lethal if not corrected immediately. Once the automatic external defibrillator senses that the heart is not beating with a regular, healthy rhythm, it will respond automatically, sending a strong enough jolt to force the heart into correcting itself into a regular, non-lethal rhythm.
An AED pack is critical because it allows the automatic external defibrillator to be carried anywhere. First responders and medical professionals need to have them, but they are also good for people who have heart diseases or illnesses. That way, the automatic external defibrillator is always on hand in case of an emergency when action matters.
