AED Ratings
AED ratings are important to have and important to know because not all automatic external defibrillators are created equal. Some are better than others. Some have a better response time than others. Some brands are easier to use than others. This is especially important when an untrained bystander might be called upon to use an automatic external defibrillator in an emergency situation. If the AED is not easy to understand and to use, then serious accidents could occur. Worse, death could still result, despite the use of the defibrillator. That is why it is best to look at a wide variety of reports, reviews, and ratings when it comes to AEDs.
Anthony D. Andre, PH.D. wrote an excellent article about AEDs, discussing a recent study that has been done on a wide variety of automatic external defibrillators, than discusses the ratings for each one, and what that means for you, and what that means for the selection you’re going to have to make. He also discusses general positives and negatives between the various brands of AEDs currently on the market. There are also other websites that provide ratings and information that will help you in your search for information on this critical piece of medical equipment.
